Seniors' rights are protected by important laws, such as the Older Americans Act (OAA) of 1965 and more recent amendments to the OAA such as 1992’s Title VII, the Vulnerable Elder Rights Protection Program. It is crucial that seniors and their loved ones are educated about how to report instances or suspicions of fraud, abuse, neglect, or exploitation to the appropriate agencies.

Adult Protective Services programs around the country are in place to “prevent or remedy the abuse, neglect, self-neglect, or exploitation of adults who are unable to protect their own interests and are at risk of immediate harm to their person or to others.”
